Project Task

In my Line Development Studio class, my group and I were tasked with digitally designing an 8-piece fashion collection from scratch using CLO-3D. Sponsored by Cotton Incorporated, the project challenged us to think critically about fiber content and sustainability, requiring each garment to be made with at least 80% cotton. We developed Ikaria, a collection under the brand name Ambrosia, inspired by the Greek island Icaria—known for its culture of longevity and slow living, where people are said to “forget to die.” Our goal was to capture that effortless, timeless energy through thoughtful design, material innovation, and storytelling, bringing it all to life through digital fashion.

The process began with concept development, where my group and I drew inspiration from the Greek island of Icaria to shape the theme of longevity and slow living. Once we established the creative direction, we moved into sketching, material research, and building a cohesive color story centered around natural tones that aligned with our cotton requirement. Since the class was sponsored by Cotton Incorporated, we ensured that each look was made from at least 80% cotton, which influenced our fabric simulations and design choices.

Learning CLO-3D was a major part of this process—I had never used the program before, so I taught myself through YouTube tutorials and class resources. This hands-on learning allowed me to develop and render our garments digitally, including custom trims and buttons. Throughout the project, we collaborated closely to make sure every design felt consistent, intentional, and true to the narrative of our collection, Ikaria.
